Books set in the present but which have subplots and backstories set in the past are among my favorites. Having read every Russ and Claire book since In the Bleak Winter, I can’t wait to read the latest in the series. Both Claire and Russ are complex characters and I’m looking forward not only to reading more about Russ’s past but to also catch up on how Russ and Claire are doing these days in the present.
