I’m a big fan of Rebekah Weatherspoon’s adult romances — she’s written a variety of subgenres and skillfully mastered each one. Correspondingly, I was very excited when I heard she’d be writing YA, since she consistently reveals a new part of her writing voice with not only each genre she writes in, but with each new book.

Her Good Side has all of the hallmarks of Rebekah Weatherspoon’s adult books, but appropriately targeted to younger readers. I think readers already familiar with her writing will still find this story and romance engaging, despite the younger characters and even if they don’t normally read YA. For YA readers, I think they’ll find this to be a fresh and appealing voice entering the YA sphere. To me, this does not read as a YA debut — the teen voice feels very genuine and not dated. I loved the characters and the story and the tropes feel familiar but fun. Lovely!
