I was really intrigued by Rebekah Witherspoon's YA debut, though I was wondering how her writing would change to this new age range. I found Her Good Side to be a great addition to her works!
There was one aspect of the premise that I was a bit concerned about (the connection between the male main character and the female main character's best friend). But the resolution and conversations around that dynamic were really clear and were nothing for me to worry about in the end.
I do feel that high school readers will connect well to the themes that are explored in this book: Chasing your own dreams vs what you think your parents want, how to navigate romantic relationships and the anxieties that can surround them as a young person, and preparing for the transition between high school and college/careers.
Overall this book was super sweet and I'd definitely recommend it!
