What happens when you want a date to prom but everyone you ask say no? You fake date your friends ex boyfriend to figure out why you’re undateable and why he is always dumped. This is the perfect teen angsty book where you make mistakes that only teenagers deem acceptable and go for it. Rebekah does well with creating a main character that is both plus sized and dark skin which is something that is never seen in novels. Her love interest and second protagonist of Asian descent is a welcomed change as well. When we look at the different relationships between Bethany and Jacob we get a realistic feel for a angsty teen relationship.
I loved this book so much because both of our protagonist are looking to change to fit in when they realize all along they will never fit in truly unless they make the paths for themselves and not to follow others. I hope Rebekah writes more YA novels soon.
