Bethany is a beautiful young lady who plays basketball and has a reputation as a crier which makes it hard for her to date. Jacob is a handsome young man that’s been broken up with by three of his last girlfriends because he’s too nice. Bethany and Jacob come up with a plan to fake date to help each other beat their reputations so others will want to date them!
This was a great take on a young-adult, fake dating romance! The author did a wonderful job with the character development for Bethany and Jacob. There were many characters that I found it hard to feel everyone wrapped up, but the two main characters were phenomenal. The inclusivity of this book was great. Bethany has two moms, there is a character with they/them pronouns and I felt like the author really did a wonderful job making sure that they were all represented well. The hidden message in this book also was great - don’t feel pressured to do something you don’t want to do. If it makes you unhappy, you need to make a change!
