Heiress for Hire is a historical romantic suspense novel with an odd premise.
Why were Minerva and two other women left an inheritance by an old man she didn’t know? Minerva runs her own detective agency, thus she has the tools to investigate. Chase Radnor is the dead man’s nephew who has been tasked with investigating by his family. This sets up a storyline where two people with two different styles are on the case and then sparks fly.
I really liked the woman solving mysteries for other women angle. That plot was fun. Less fun was the romance angle and trigger warning, Minerva’s husband’s suspicious death was the opposite of fun.
Romantic suspense is a great niche genre but its often very hard to pull off. This novel went even more obscure to historical and I will say historical romance is not my jam.
While I didn’t love this novel, I did enjoy pieces of it and will pick up the next in the series in 2021.
