Who doesn't love a historical romance? l'm a
total sucker for one and was especially pleased
to get this ARC. This story is part murder mystery,
part romance, and all about a strong woman
turning her life around after experiencing abuse
in a terrible marriage.
Minerva Hepplewhite has a secret.. but secrets are her
specialty. She always seems to suss out the truth. That is why
when she mysteriously inherits a significant trust AND
shares in a business from a duke she's never met, she knows
what she plans to do with the money-start her own
investigative agency. But the manner in which she
finds out about her recent windfall-a man
breaking into her house to investigate her because of
this mysterious endowment-makes her first case
her own: find out who, if anyone, murdered the duke!

Her maybe-burglar is none other than Chase, the
duke's nephew and a private investigator himself.
He is also investigating his uncle's fair wgsuspi irons" fall"
from the parapet of his estate. So when he finally
discovers one of the unknown women who have inherited
the bulk of his uncle's vast fortune, he can't help but
suspect one of them is involved in the murder. He just
didn't expect the one he does find to be quite so
adept at subduing him when he breaks in to
investigate. He also didn't expect to feel
such an attraction either...
This book was very fun and sweet. It does NOT,
however, resolve the mystery of the dead duke. That
was very frustrating. This is clearly part one of a
presumably four part series that will end with the
discovery. Each story will likely end up telling
just how the duke choose these young women
and will find them paired off with one of the
many eligible men in this book-especially the
duke's nephews. Overall 'enjoyed the mystery of
the duke's death and the other discoveries of
why Minerva inherited and how her own
mysterious past played a role. This is a guaranteed
HEA, even if we don't know who hived the duke.
I can't wait for the next one!
