Short, crisp sentences and a mystery that has me hooked

I really like this author's writing style - the sentences are short but direct and crisp, no room for confusion. Chase seems annoying at first but I am intrigued by him when we switch to his point of view. And Minerva seems like a strong, independent woman who I want to get to know! I hope they fall in love because a meet-cute where the woman knocks out the man (and causes him to bleed) is definitely original!! And I am fascinated by the mystery of the fortune left to strangers and Minerva's secret history - I need to know more!
