What an awesome beginning! Minerva changed her name after the mysterious death of her husband and so when she receives a significant inheritance from a Duke that she has never met, his nephew, who knows the truth, is suspicious of her involvement. The Duke fell from the parapet of his estate and his nephew Chance doesn’t believe it was an accident. But Minerva is also a suspicious person and wants to get to the bottom of this mystery too. She has a canny luck with sleuthing and hopes to make a business out of it, starting with her first client—herself.
The writing is excellent. There is a lack of the horrible archaisms of speech that can ruin a historical romance. The plot moves at a nice pace. The writing is clear. The story is intriguing. I am ready for the romance! I can already imagine how it will turn out and I am more than ready for it. I’m really very excited to read more!
