As someone who is older than the target audience for the young adult genre, I tend to be a little nervous when going into a YA novel. However, I found this to be really well-written, and although still age appropriate for teens and tweens, it can definitely have appeal for adults as well. Post-apocalyptic world + sapphic romance? I'm sold.

The characters are fleshed out pretty well, and the reasoning behind their actions can be followed. A huge pet peeve of mine is when books for younger readers don't put enough thought into the characters to make them three dimensional, so I really appreciate Brooke Archer's writing here.

Although there's solid characterization, this definitely still falls under the thriller category. The story is pretty fast paced and will keep you on your toes. If the premise of this book calls to you, then I'd give it a shot.
