Needed more to like it
I like the cover of this one, it's eye-catching with the cute little angry apple. I also liked the name, because Hangry is clear and understandable - I knew straight away what this book was going to be about.
After reading the first 31 pages, I'm not so sure about 'hangry' mostly because I feel a little patronised. I'm giving the MASSIVE caveat that because the book doesn't get into the actual 'self-help' part of the book in those first 31 pages, so I can't talk about how helpful I think the hanger management strategies could be. I do think the introduction came across patronising, and by the time I got to the end of the introduction I wanted to skim read it to get it over with. Maybe it's just not for me, but after reading all the cutesy stories about the horrors of being hangry, I just wanted to roll my eyes. Everything was described a little too dramatically, and I couldn't connect with the narrative at all. Maybe I'd find the actual strategies helpful but this hasn't really encouraged me to try.
