Writing a self-help book is indescribably difficult. A person with a great deal of expertise can offer priceless insights to their subject, but unless the reader feels like that insight is approachable, it's almost a waste of time. Sometimes it's necessary to put things in layman's terms in order to reach a wider audience. That can be a risk, though.

In reading this First Look, I felt like the author - clearly an expert in their field - had dumbed things down a bit too much. I felt like I was being preached at through the pages, and it was uncomfortable. It was a struggle for me to get through the First Look.

I can easily see the value of this book for a lot of people. Sometimes a person just wants to take small bites - pun intended! - when approaching a change to their diet, and I think they will find this book to be of great use. I just don't think I'm in the target audience.
