Thought provoking Iranian historical fiction

The cover of Half a Cup of Sand and Sky is beautiful and artistic. The story takes place at a point in Iran's history that I'd like to learn about. The writing in the excerpt was poetic but hard to follow at times. The story sounds like thought-provoking and I'd like to find out what happens to Amineh.
