It seems to be an age old set of themes…which still are relevant today. The nature of love and it’s importance or lack there of in a successful partnership. The idealism of the young. The merits and demerits of strongman rule versus democratic ideas versus theocracy.
I like a book that jumps right in with its many themes. The style of writing is engaging and the characters are already getting well fleshed out right from the offset. It reminds me a bit of Rushdi’s focus on characters living within a complex political and familial community.
The cover could be more engaging. A book need to jump out on a face out shelf.
