I was immediately interested in this book since it quickly establishes the situation of an intensifying political situation, in a part of the world that many Americans are unfamiliar with. I consider historical fiction one of the most compelling ways to learn about history. By the end of the second page in chapter one, readers know that people of various ages and stations in life -from students to high-powered lawyers- are protesting the government's actions. When female protagonists Ava and Amineh learn that their friend Tahmures is dead, the tension builds with the revelation that Tahmures was important to the opposition movement; in fact he was the secret author of 'The Art of Revolution.'

I like the realistic portrayal of Ava and Amineh. Even though Amineh does not feel the same need to become involved in political meetings and discussions, she cares about Ava and is willing to participate to show support for her good friend.

I really want to read this book and look forward to an interesting story based on the history of Iran.
