This book was a sweet tribute to the author’s mother and got me thinking about end of life care in a different way than I have before. But it was a bit repetitive and disjointed since it described various times in the author’s life and her mother’s life and her thoughts about those things.

It was interesting because for probably the first half of the book I had no idea any of the people being discussed were white - I finally was googling various names because it sounded like the author’s husband was some big shot in some kind of field but we were just supposed to know who he was without explanation. I still don’t know who he is, but it shifted my perspective on the story. I don’t even know if I would have read it if I’d realized it was not about how the COVID pandemic affected minorities - this family had all kinds of resources and complained when they still couldn’t have everything they wanted. It was a little insensitive.
