I have respect for the woman, and her daughter, who wrote this book about the loss of the family matriarch during Covid. It’s both universal and personal. If we didn’t lose someone during Covid ourselves we spent a lot of time worrying about it happening and we also know others who went through it.
This book adds an interesting an angle because the daughter of author works in health care. So she experienced Covid very personally and even took care of her grandmother at the end.

Now, that said, I don’t want to read this book. I spent so much time worrying about my parents and in-laws during the height of Covid, only to have them all get through it and then have my father pass away of cancer. I don’t appreciate a sad book on a good day and I’m definitely not interested in them right now.

So kudos to the author for sharing her tale. I hope it helps others. But despite my respect, and empathy for what they went through, it’s not a story I can read.
