The cover of Marsha Gray Hill's Grief and Grits is cutesy, hand-drawn and provides a warmth one seeking out a book like this may find comfort in. However, as I am someone who cannot handle grief when presented in such a blatant fashion when it comes to media- especially when it comes to mother-daughter relationships- I knew that this book probably wouldn't agree with me. Hill's writing is very well done, but I just can't see myself enjoying this novel.
