I appreciate and respect what this author has been through, and clearly writing this book was cathartic. That being said, I think the combination of a very heavy and long winded foreword and a dramatic first chapter felt like a bit MUCH to get the reader invested. I also get the sense this book will be heavily tinged by religion, due to the mother and daughter's involvement with the church and that isn't really something I connect with as a reader.
