Emotionally Heavy

The beginning of “Grief and Grits” hit close to home and was emotionally challenging to read. The events of these last few years are still quite fresh in my mind, thereby making books that center around the pandemic a bit undesirable. Nonetheless, I found myself drawn to this writing since the subject matter was so relatable. I quite like the cover and feel like the simplicity of it counterbalances the emotional heaviness of this memoir. I would like to read on and follow the author’s journey with the loss of her mother. I also look forward to learning how the experience of losing her mother in the midst of a global pandemic affected her and her family.
