It's interesting that the first impression started further into the book, so the reader is thrown in. I think this was a way of getting to know the characters quicker. And they are raw and real and tough. It is going to be very interesting to see where the story goes. The writing is extremely realistic and pushes you to untangle the web of relationships, both surface-level and a little deeper.
