I did not like that this excerpt starts on Ch. 3. I would've liked it to have started the beginning. BUT. What an introduction to the character of Camden! All you know is that his brother died while they were both in the armed forces and his hometown, and his father, blame him for his brother's death. Then from Ch. 3, Camden's father has shot him accused him of killing his brother. Whoa. Talk about family drama! I'm not one to read war/military books but this one looks to be the aftermath of serving so there will probably be flashbacks and that's okay. We get dual perspectives in this excerpt and I hope the book just sticks with those two. It seems like a heartwrenching and real family book.
