Grief is difficult to write. It normally reads as apathy, which may be true for some but not all. Rebecca Yarros is able to truly encompass a sense of loss and pain in her writing. I felt the pain and hurt the characters were feeling in their chapters. I kept turning to pages in hope that the characters would magically feel better, and now I need the rest of the book just to understand whether they are able to move on or not.
