“Evoking the atmosphere of HBO’s Mare of Easttown with a villain reminiscent of Thomas Harris’s Silence of the Lambs, Granite Harbor is about a small coastal town in Maine that is shaken to its core by a serial killer who brutally murders a local teenager and leaves his body in the towns historical archaeological site, The Settlement. After a second teen is killed in the same ritualistic manner, detective Alex Brangwen must race to find the murderer before he can claim a new victim.”

I never expected to have to say this about a thriller novel, but…there were too many toads. This book was gross. That being said, I didn’t guess the killer when I thought I had and it was well written. I did like that there was background on the killers life leading up to the reveal that was fitting for someone to end up a killer, but this just wasn’t for me. I didn’t like it, but it’s good enough that someone else likely would.
