This felt like an odd juxtaposition but I was both skeptical of this read and yet had high hopes for it. I can't really explain or justify why both feelings came to be ahead of reading through. Now all that said, I can now say that Nichols definitely lived up to the hype for Granite Harbor. His writing and complex characters kept me guessing until the very end. While I had an inkling for the "who did it" early on, I still found myself surprised at how the story came together in the final few chapters.

Another aspect that I enjoyed was the small town feel of the read. While setup in Maine, it reminded me of so many small southern towns that I've visited - especially when Nichols would highlight the settlement location or the tight-knit community. It quickly became a page turner and a read that I just NEEDED to know how it ended. I would look forward to another Nichols read.
