A Maine town is rocked by the gruesome murders of young students whose parents are left to solve their murders. The victims' friends are left to piece together what happened while also protecting themselves. The murderer kills in a unique, gruesome style (using a specific incision and a toad) which is reminiscent of the classic killer, Buffalo Bill.

The story is full of creative and suspenseful twists and turns. When I found out who the murderer was, I was so surprised I screamed out loud! Nichols did an excellent job of making me think the murderer was anyone but who it was.

The character development along the way was very well done. I enjoyed reading about each character, their past and present lives, and how they were all connected in their small town. As characters were introduced later in the story, I felt like I knew exactly who they were even though I didn't spend as much time reading their stories.

I also really enjoyed the cover art for Granite Harbor. The red I's are a great nod to the killer's style.
