A page turning thriller that will haunt your thoughts with the visuals painted in words from this author. I can't unread the horrors portrayed in it. The only beautiful thing in it is the setting in Granite Harbor, Maine. It was slow paced but it needed to be to set the stage for some horrific crimes against teens found murdered. Two teens were strung up for public display in the Settlement, an archaeological site. Told in several Povs, even one detailing the killer without revealing who it is.
POV: Alex, a detective and single father raising a teenage daughter Sophie
POV: Isabel, works at the Settlement and a single mother raising a teenage son, Ethan.
They both fear for the safety of their teens since they are friends with the deceased.
It does capture your interest since it is well written and atmospheric. The solving of the crime becomes an edge of the seat race for answers and before there is another victim.
**Chapter 34 is a gory scene of animal abuse and not relevant to the rest of the book. I skipped it after reading all the warnings.
Thank you Celadon Books and author Peter Nichols for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
