The First Look of Granite Harbor by Peter Nichols was interesting and engaging, but the heart of the story was just getting started, when it ended. There is a murder of a high school teen, known in the community. Time was spent on the detective’s back story; he’s divorced, an involved father feeling pushed away by his adolescent daughter. He’s a writer and a detective, and he is called to the murder scene. There is a creepy feel to this killer in the initial pages, and the fact that the victim is a young adult makes it all the more disturbing.
