Gorgeous Gruesome Faces is a young adult novel about teen pop. While it was a good read, it was not for me. I couldnt connect with the characters very well. I am not really into LGBTQ books either so that part of the story i personally could have done with out. I think the them being teens would be a much better fit for a younger reader.
This story gave horror vibes for sure and was super eerie. K pop dynamic is so impactful because of what social media portrays and how much people look up to young celebrities. It gave a good showing of how the pressure these teen pop artists face of trying to be perfect and beautiful to the world. I felt this story was pretty original and nothing like I read before which is always refreshing.
The cover though is amazing and totally sucked me in. It made me enjoy the book even more. I have not seen a more perfect cover with the glitz and jazz it added to the story.
