Gorgeous Gruesome Faces was described to me as Yellowjackets meets she is a haunting. I haven't seen Yellowjackets(though I've heard a lot about it), and I have read she is a haunting. Besides for them both being young adult horror with a sapphic main character, I didn't really feel much connection between the two. This is unique in that the setting is a k-pop school which is pretty cutthroat. I haven't read a book with such a setting before but was curious about it. This also adds a fun competition aspect to our thriller. I was really fascinated this entire book with figuring out what happened to Mina and how it is affecting the ex-friends left in present day. If you like sapphic horror or are into k-pop I would recommend this one. I didn't find it too scary, felt more paranormal than horror. I am looking forward to seeing what Linda Cheng writes next
