Gorgeous Gruesome Faces is a YA thriller with a splash of horror from debut author Linda Cheng. This story follows Sunday (Sunny) who was part of the popular music trio group, Sweet Cadence, in her early teens. Sunny and Candie ends up falling apart going separate ways after Mina commits suicide after a sandal and cancel culture destroys the group. Sunny is confused, blaming herself for Mina's death which still haunts her.
This book has queer romance, revenge, self-harm, suicide, torture, body shaming, and ritualistic attempted murder. I think it displays Kpop culture well and the pressure to have perfect beautiful skin that anyone could relate to.
