This book gives a great behind-the-scenes look at the price of being part of a wildly popular superstar group, and how much it gives but also more importantly (and less obviously) takes away from the actual people who have or want the seemingly enviable lives of fame and fortune. There's also competition, drama, secrets, horror (with a gothic, cultish vibe), violence, revenge, friendship, and even some social commentary on misogyny. It's creepy and dark and there's magic and supernatural elements--it's unlike anything else I've read. It's also a quick read, which makes it perfect for when you want to experience an engrossing high-intensity read (lots of wild turns and plot twists!) without a lot of commitment, but still very thought-provoking. One final thought: I loved the fact that even though there were clearly the main characters around which the storyline developed, the side characters were also still very interesting.
