This book was not at all what I was expecting, and I had the tissues ready for this book because I always assume that book with a dog on the cover will make make the water works run. But, just because it wasn't what I was expecting, it doesn't mean it was a bad book, and as a matter of fact it was a good book, as the author writes about her transitional period for him to her, and how the dogs in her life played a role in helping her identify who she was and also how to be supporting to her daughter as well when she also transitioned. The only issue I had with this book was that there where times where I would get confused because the author would jump all over the timeline, for example, she would be telling of an event that happened in the past and then suddenly, without warning change the setting to the present, and I wouldn't realize it after a short while later when certain people are mentioned. Other than that issue, I found this book entertaining and it is a good read for anyone who wants to read about the internal struggle that goes within someone who is a transitional person.
