Good Boy by Jennifer Finney Boylan gives me mixed feelings. I love having access to more trans-positive books and I am a big lover of dogs so I jumped right away at the chance to read this one. There are a lot of insights into what can be a difficult situation and I am very grateful to have had the opportunity to read about her life but I did struggle to get through the whole book and it took me much longer than expected. It felt disjointed a lot of the time and I could not really empathize with the way she talked about her dogs and how they were supposedly related to the stages in her life. It was not until the end of the book where I really felt that connection and wish to find out more and I probably will read more of her books in the future because she does still have an interesting writing style, even if it does not always work for me personally.
