I found Good Boy a real revelation of what the author experienced as someone who changed from a man into a woman in a time contemporary with my own life. Also, having had a lifetime of dogs, I really liked the structure of how life can be reflected by the dogs in our lives. And I thought I had had some crazy dogs!
But I think what will stay with me the most from this book is how such a personal need to transform requires a journey, how each phase of life has its own challenges and joys. Though most of us will not choose such a dramatic physical change in our own life, insight into someone who did--and the family around her--can give us valuable insight into our own journeys through our own lives--as well as our dogs!
