This is a book of self discovery of a boy growing up with dogs, and watching his family allow them to just run their home, accepting them with all their bad habits. The boys realization that acceptance in one self is also important and the need to realize the changes in oneself allows the author to share how the she accepted herself as well as others around her to live life without judgement.

The cover of the book was beautiful and when I looked at book I expected a read of beautiful dog stories, I managed to laugh at how each dog had faults and were impossible to train or the family refused to train them. They accepted that this was their dog and it was just how they were and lived with it. The dogs were a glimmer of the authors need to become whom she is today. Not my normal type of read but it was insightful.
