I was very excited to receive and ARC of this book in exchange for a review. I love the premise of this book. Telling the story of the authors life through the dogs they have loved during that time period. It was less about dogs than I had hoped it would be and more about the authors coming of age and coming into who they really are. I had not previously read any memoirs by a transgender author,so I found the perspective very unique and interesting. It felt relatable and emotional. I’m glad that the author was able to fully come into their own and embrace who they were born to be. I would recommend this book to family and friends who are interested in animal books and also those who are interested in LGBTQ issues.
