I liked that this story showcases each of the dogs that the author had and how it impacted that time in their life. Everyone uses some kind of marker to differentiate from the difference phases of their lives (high school, boyfriends, etc.) and I think uses the different dogs they had was very good idea as well as unique as I would never had thought about pets being markers for my life.
This story is also unique in that this character had so many different dogs that had such an impact on their lives. Most people I know have max two or three dogs in their lives but this author having so many shows how important furry friends were for the writer and deepens the story for me with the love shown between the owner and all dogs.
The way that the author wrote about their life was nice in that they were playful with the writing but also serious when they had to be so it flowed nicely.
