This book had me at the cover. Once I’d read the synopsis I was even more excited. As a lifelong dog owner, I found myself to relating to many of the stories Boylan shares about her different dogs. Growing up owning dogs and always having them around creates an unique and special bond between owner and the pet. Dogs can comfort us, teach us about ourselves and the importance of caring for others, and to find joy in the small things (like playing fetch or going on a walk).
While I enjoyed the premise of the story, I found Boylan’s writing to be slightly inconsistent. I found some portions of the book kept me engaged while other portions left me feeling a little bored. There were so many heartwarming moments and I’m glad I had the opportunity to read this lovely book.
