Just from the short excerpt I was able to read, I can tell that this book is going to take me on a beautiful, emotional journey. I love the premise of the author telling her story through the dogs that she's had throughout her life. I love that she is sharing memories, experiences, and lessons learned in life - while weaving in the memories of the dogs and the impacts they've had on her.
In addition to the unique concept (in regards to how the story is told), there is the story of her experience as a transgender person. What a unique, rich story she has to tell - from growing up as a boy, then becoming a father, and now living as a mother. I can also appreciate that the book takes place in Pennsylvania, where I've lived all my life.
I cannot wait to read the rest of this book - I expect that it is one that will stay with me for years to come.
