Based on the title, I thought this book would be about dogs or at least mostly focused on the dogs' lives. I was surprised to start reading and discover this is actually a memoir about a trans-woman and her journey: "This is a book about seven phases of my life and the dogs I loved at each moment." I'm not usually a fan of memoirs, but this one sounds unique.
