This is a wonderful books and is so beautifully written! I immediately had high expectations for this book because I saw that Celadon is the publisher... you know the same publisher that published The Silent Patient! Boy, did this book deliver.
It was witty and jerked at the heart strings because it's true we are led to believe that dogs love us unconditionally, but on the contrary it is us that unconditionally loves them. No matter how many times they pee in the house or chew something up we love them. We desperately crave their affection and want them to love us. However, then they'll look at us with utter contempt when they come in from outside and you don't give them the goodie they think they deserve.
The world is a cruel and judge mental place... this book puts into perspective that even your dog judges you, however, at the end of the day we love without bounds.. can we say the same of people?
