Like so many, I am a dog-lover and was attracted to the lab on the cover and wanted to learn more about the effect dogs have on their owner's lives. I loved how the author used something a majority of society can relate to (having a meaningful pet in your life) to talk about something society is divided over (the transgender movement). I cried at the author's "conversations" with the dogs she interacted with as I related to the emotions she felt in those moments.
