As a cat person that loves dogs, I both understand and cannot fully fathom the number of dogs in this woman’s life. This is story about her whole life from the beginning when she was a boy to where she is now and is told through stories of her seemingly infinite supply of dogs. I kind of love it. I’m a woman in a woman’s body so understanding the transgender experience is a bit difficult—I haven’t lived it or felt what that’s like inside. This author is so open about her thoughts and past, it’s very easy to appreciate and understand and identify with the difficulties and joys of her experience and life in general. I really enjoyed this excerpt and I really enjoyed all the dogs.
