This book promises to be a journey of many tales (tails?) , as told by an author of unimpeachable talent. From the beginning, the reader is lightly introduced to Jimmy Fly-Trap and his alter-ego. In an amazing glimpse into the psyche of this special young person, a story is told of when 11-year-old Jimmy felt significantly threatened by a neighbor's dog. Yet this same child would regularly crawl around and watch prisoners working in the jail yard! It was very striking to me that child-Jimmy felt most threatened by those creatures he felt saw through his facade as a boy, and not only knew of his real self, but didn't approve.

I am eager to read the rest of this book and see where life's journey takes the author. I love the lens of telling one's life story through their dogs. I feel a close kinship with the author already.
