Beautifully Written
I have a dog I don't care that much for at the moment. Or, perhaps I should say, my husband has a dog. She's cute enough, I guess, but she's a burden I didn't ask for, and guess who has to take care of her?
So it was nice to see the author refer to a dog as about as sentient as a "used shamwow" and detail that another dog from childhood would have eaten his face off if given the chance. I worried this book was going to hero worship all dogs and I just can't deal with that.
Instead, the author writes about what her dogs have taught her over the course of her life - about love - for others (and, I'm suspecting, for herself).
I'm in.
