I really enjoyed the excerpt from this book! I find that sometimes fantasy books making the world building incredibly confusing in the beginning or they have to expressly explain the magic system. This incorporated a great balance of introducing the characters and their personalities while also introducing the environment. I am not familiar with the fairlytale this is based off of, so the rest of the story is a mystery to me. I liked the writing style as well. It was fast paced but not rushed. Information was sprinkled in and you start to pick up on details rather than being explicitly told. I enjoyed that the story flowed and wasn’t choppy with explanations or awkward backstories. The scenes were described vividly enough that I could picture exactly what was happening. The main character is sassy and fierce. I look forward to reading more about her!
