This book was such a wonderful surprise!! Right off the bat you can tell this is going to be a retelling of Rumplestiltskin, BUT IT’S SO MUCH MORE THAN THAT.
Serilda is the kind of grouchy heroine that every fantasy book needs. And the way her story unfolds is nothing short of masterful. The same goes for Gild. Yes, he is a love interest, but he’s not fully written that way. He’s sweet, but sarcastic, and aloof, but genuine. You fall in love with his character naturally-it’s not forced on you.
The world building is SO LUSH and each character jumps off the page. I was so curious of how this story was going to wrap up so quickly until I realized it was ending on a cliffhanger, which means…? A SEQUEL!!
I was so sad when I’d finished this book (and it’s a thicc one) because I just wanted to stay in this world that Marissa Meyer created forever. Needless to say I would highly recommend and can’t wait for the next one!!
