I absolutely loved this retelling of Rumplestiltskin! The cover gives you an idea of the twisty haunted fae shenanigans that are inside, but the author does such a good job of delivering on that promise. It did take me a really long time to finish this book, but that wasn't the fault of the book or the author. Unfortunately, life happens in quick succession and leaves very little time for recovery. But also, I have too many hobbies!
Anyway, back to the book itself. I loved the spooky atmosphere and the building of tension as our leading lady slowly discovers just how precarious her situation really is. The fae that encompass cruelty, beauty, cunning, and empathy gives the story depth in a way that some stereotypically written fae can lack. But the variety of emotions helps add to the storytelling in a way that almost humanizes them without forgetting their otherworldly aspects.
