Love fractured fairytales
Fast paced, entertaining. The folklore element is twisted perfectly. The setting descriptions are magical amd transport you into a new world. It is dark and desperate. I also love that rumplestilskin is young and attractive. The romance is sweet, albeit a bit mature for YA. It's not super graphic but the mains do go all the way. Which I personally do not condone in YA books. But it is closed door. Also I did let my teen read it. So it's not over the top. Marissa Myer has a gift for flipping fairytale into something new and exciting. This is more Gothic in tone but it includes a heroine and hero you can root for. Warning: there is death, ghosts, and reference to sex. More sensitive readers may be affected by the ghostly elements and descriptions of gore. All in all I would recommend this book to lovers of heartless and the lunar chronicles. It is on brand for Meyer.
